Who is Phil Goss?
Indiana is home, and it always has been. I was raised in Evansville, earned my undergraduate degree at Wabash College studying political science and rhetoric, and continued my education in Bloomington with graduate work in business economics and public policy. Today, I live in Noblesville and operate my family farm in Fort Wayne.
My professional life has taken me far beyond Indiana, providing me with global, real-world experience. I am an investor, a farmer, and a small-business owner. I run a pub in Gdansk, Poland, and serve as President of the Management Board of Perla Brewery, Poland’s fourth-largest brewery, with approximately $250 million in annual revenue. Earlier in my career, I served as a vice-consul with the U.S. Department of State, where I adjudicated immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications after completing the State Department’s Consular Course. I have also spent years teaching at both the secondary and post-secondary levels.
The people of Indiana’s 5th District deserve a representative who answers to voters, not donors, and who understands the realities of both rural and suburban life. My background allows me to bridge those worlds and gives me the experience needed to compete and win in both the primary and the general elections.
This campaign is built to last. We are assembling the infrastructure, grassroots support, and fundraising capacity required to run a serious, competitive race and flip this seat. Democrats live and work in every part of this district, and success will require connecting across economic, geographic, and cultural lines. I am ready for that challenge.
I am running because I believe deeply in public service. From my early involvement in the Boy Scouts and Coast Guard Explorer Scouts, to a career that has included diplomacy and international development, service has been a constant thread in my life. I spent many years living in Poland, becoming fluent in the language and working on post-Soviet economic transition. More recently, I helped coordinate transportation and housing for Ukrainian refugees and medical care for wounded Americans returning home from Ukraine. Those experiences have shaped my belief that my global perspectives would be quite valuable in Congress.
I welcome conversations with all residents of the district, regardless of party affiliation. Progress depends on listening, mutual respect, and a willingness to engage beyond political labels.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I look forward to earning your trust and working together to build a better tomorrow!
